Cosmetology Students Raise Money for Family Guidance Center

Catawba Valley Community College’s Cosmetology Program conducted fundraisers during the fall semester to fund assistance for local domestic violence victims and diagnostic mammograms for patients who cannot afford one or do not have insurance.

A portion of all of salon chemical services performed on clients, including perms and hair color, were designated for a donation. Additional donations were also accepted throughout the semester.

Donations from this year’s efforts were donated to the Family Guidance Center and Catawba County Public Health's Breast Health Fund. A faithful anonymous salon client arranged for a matching gift pledge from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church of Newton.

A total of $380 was raised for Catawba County Public Health’s Breast Health Fund. The total funds raised for the Family Guidance Center was $370.
